HAVOC IN THE STREETS

Ever wondered why women walking in the streets of Malaysia carry their bags on the opposite shoulder that’s not facing the road? Well that’s because of robbery and theft that goes on in most streets.

One Busy Saturday morning I was walking down the streets busy with my friend when we saw two people dressed in black riding on a motorbike, speed up past the street and grabbed an old ladies bag as they pointed a knife on to her in order for her to release her handbag and after they got a hold of it they left in a hurry before the woman could start screaming.  We were so shocked that we couldn’t move, witnessing such a robbery for the first time was scary. Since that day I have never felt completely safe walking on the streets especially alone.

When night falls people are advised not to walk on the streets because of theft and in order to avoid tragic incidences. Despite having guards around thieves still have their way of doing things.

One night I and my friends were on the balcony looking at the streets when we saw a man running from a distance approaching the park and there was a gang of other men chasing him. As they got closer to him they started throwing things in order for them to slow him down. They caught up with him and bet him up. We started screaming hoping that they could hear us and leave him alone but they went on beating him until a guard chased them away.

Seeing such occurrences makes it very clear that the streets aren’t safe anymore. You cannot walk anytime as you please because crimes have increased. Nobody is safe anymore.  

Most people nowadays prefer to walk or move in groups because that’s the only safe way to move around in most streets in Malaysia. When people see you’re in a group they hardly disturb you nor harass you. If you’re driving it’s safer to close all you car windows.

Malaysian streets aren’t safe especially late at night. Those are the times when bad things happen to most people and it’s the time whereby all the bad people go out for haunting down peoples and their belongings.  In most streets there is a high concentration of crimes going on.

However most places have a high security facility, which makes it harder for intruders to come in and robe or hurt anyone. Most apartments and places such as Suriamas, Casatiara and other places have surveillance cameras to look at the people going in and out of a particular area. Moreover you cannot enter a place without a card that clarifies that you’re authorized to enter or without filling a book to record your details. Also along the roads there checkpoints in different places such as on your way to KL whereby you cannot drive or pass through to reach the other side without paying for a ticket and when you reach the other side you have to handout the ticket in order for you to go through. This system keeps people safe.

Furthermore during the night it’s advisable to call a taxi company if you need a taxi or go to the taxi booth to get a taxi in order for you to safely reach your destination without any problems because the taxi company has all the records and details of the taxi you’ll be in, in case anything happens to you. And also this taxi’s have meter machines therefore you cannot get exploited by taxi drivers who give you wrong prices.

Therefore living in Malaysia requires you to always be alert and careful.

THE STREETS

Every day as I walk down the streets of Malaysia I see different people and places. I still wonder why houses are so close to each other and crowded .Since I got here I have never seen a house with a beautiful garden and a great view of the city or surroundings. This is still new to me. 

Although some of the buildings are beautiful and well built, I still get disgusted with the littering I see around Malaysia. Everywhere I go I see rubbish and plastic bags thrown around the streets. There is too much garbage in the streets of Malaysia.

However the roads a structured well, the highways are spectacular especially during the night with all the lights on, along the roadside. During the night as I look out of my balcony there is dead silence, nobody is walking and there are a few cars passing after every hour. The city is peaceful and looks beautiful with all the lights shining from every building and the billboards lighting up the entire place. The buildings are so high you can’t finish looking up at them without stretching and tilting your head.

In Suriamas you could see a chain of cars parked outside and the neighboring buildings are way high. During the night everything is still and uniform as if the time stopped and the earth wasn’t rotating. You cannot here any sound or movements when it’s passed mid night. Although sometimes there fire waxes being lighted up and they boom on the sky, you could see different rainbow colors on the sky and hear loud booming sounds. It’s so beautiful you might feel like you’re in paradise.

When it reaches early morning, you hear loud sounds coming out from hooting cars and people talking and moving around. The streets get so busy with people running errands and students going to school. As you drive past the streets you see women and men selling food .

The sun is too bright and the heat is unbearable. You cannot walk without an umbrella. It’s very annoying that the heat determines your dress code .You can’t put on anything without thinking of the heat.

Furthermore the roads have cracks and you could see pebbles. For those people driving it’s so inconvenient when you think about the traffic. In Malaysia the traffic jam is way annoying. You cannot reach where you want to go to in time because there too many cars and the traffic jam is stationary, cars move very slowly and the traffic lights make it worse because you could be stuck at a point for many minutes waiting for the green light in order for you to speed up .Therefore for those people who are in a hurry they have to wake up early and start their journey or else they’ll never make it on time. Also parking is a big problem in Malaysia, it’s hectic because there isn’t enough space for parking due to many cars and therefore people have to race and fight for a parking spots in some places. This is very disappointing to most drivers.

Malaysian streets are always busy and time is never wasted. Population is increasing at a high speed and rate.

THE DECEPTIVE LOVE

Dear Miles,

 You must be wondering why am writing this letter to you after all that has happened between us. Ever since you left me I have been lost and lonely; I loved you so much but you took me for granted.

You used me and treated me like a toy, dint give a damn about what I felt. I was like your puppet; you controlled me as you pleased. How could I be such a fool to love you? Believing every word you told me?

Damn! “You took me on a roller-coaster ride!” How could I be so stupid to always do as you said; I always wanted to make you happy, And believe me I tried, but some people are just not easy to love.

I remember when you swore to love me no matter what. Why has it come to this? Wasn’t I good enough for you or maybe you just didn’t know what you wanted? How could you hurt me this way?

We were together for 2 years and all that time I thought you loved me instead you we getting cozy with my friend. Why her of all people? You knew how close we were but still you went ahead and pursued her. Why did you take the most important part from me you with; my heart? I can’t love anymore because of you, I can’t be happy anymore because of you. I am now afraid, because of you!

Look at me! What have you turned me into? Are you now happy, that I can no longer receive nor give love? Why me……………., Why Miles? How could you play me like that? What did I do wrong?

You made me lose hope of true love. Does it really exist, with ungrateful men like you?

Remember when I stood up for you, when my parents wanted to take drastic measures on you? I defended you and chose you. Look at me now; I regret every meeting you and being yours.

You told me that my friend didn’t mean a thing to you and that she was a terrible mistake. Am I supposed to be happy for hearing that and believe you again?

Miles! Am tired of you shot comings, am fed up! Stop showing- up on my doorstep and trying to buy me off   with expensive gifts. I don’t need them, I don’t need you. You’re long gone. You hurt me so much!

Thank you for making me strong and giving me the experience of a life time. You showed me who you truly are and how low you could go.

Listen I don’t think it’s fair for me to let you in like that. I don’t think you deserve me. I cried for days over you because what you did to me hurt me so deep. I never thought you could do that to me after all we had been through. I was ready to spend the rest of my life with you.

Therefore I hope I made myself clear, don’t bother trying to pursue me cause your chances of getting me back are 0%. I need sometime alone to forget you. Please don’t make it hard for me. Stop coming to see me again.

CONFESSIONS

 Dear diary,

I am lost and confused with no one to turn to. Keeping a deadly secret isn’t as easy as I thought. Barbra, my close friend is going through a difficult time. Her parents passed away and she was left in the hands of her uncle and his wife. Ever since she moved in with them, she’s been coming to school with marks on her entire body; she is mistreated and tortured by her uncle and aunt.

One morning Barbra dint show up for school and I decided to pay her a visit. On my way to her place I decided to take a short cut through the woods because the sun was shining and it was very hot. As I walked through the woods I witnessed a man being brutally beaten by a gang of men.  He was hanged upside down and blood was dripping from his mouth as the men continuously punched him.

I hide behind a bush, alarmed as a snake and covered my mouth with my hands in order to prevent myself from making any sound. I have never been that scared in my life. “What if they see me? What will happen to me?” I kept asking myself over and over again as I watch the man slowly drifting away.

I felt like a doll locked in a store; helpless and couldn’t do a thing to help the old man. Tears kept crawling from my eyes as I saw him in pain. The man closed his eyes and never opened them again, he was dead and the men were laughing as they checked his pulse to ensure that he was not breathing. After a few minutes some of them started digging a hole and before I knew it they had buried him and took off in their motorbikes as if nothing had happened. Everything happened so fast. I stood up and stared at the ground where the man was buried confused and speechless; feeling as guilty as those men since I was helpless and did not help him; fear took over me.

Immediately I started running as fast as a cheetah, heading back home. As I approached the house I noticed Barbra setting outside on the staircase probably waiting for me. I walked over to her only to realize that her face was swollen and she was crying her eyes out. She told me what her uncle did to her but made me promise that I would never tell a soul.

Keeping her secret and what I witnessed has been eating me up. My conscience had been bothering me and I didn't know who to turn to for help. “Should I go to the authority?” I kept asking myself.

Finally the day came when someone reported that there was an old man missing. When I laid my eyes on the news paper, the headline read that Mr.Charles, a business man was missing for several days and there is a rumor that he was kidnapped, therefore if anyone has information about him should go to the police station. This was it, it was my chance to at least try and seek justice for his death.

I went to the police station and told them what I saw and that Mr. Charles was the man I saw being tortured to death. I was shown pictures to identify if those people were involved. Looking at the pictures reminded me of their faces and the whole incidence; “it is them”, I said out load with tears rushing down. After few minutes of calming down I led the police to the place where Mr. Charles was murdered and buried.

Being of help to the police made me proud of myself; I saved a mystery but what’s left is to solve Barbra’s problem. How should i start? where should i go? Is it OK to break the promise? Am so confused and scared!

A NEW ANIMAL REVOLUTION

Long time ago humans approached animals in a negative manner and refereed to them as being substandard to the human race. They did not care about the animal’s welfare and their habitations. Most animals hide in fear for their lives and ran on the other direction when they saw humans. This is because they know how brutal mankind can be. Unfortunately till today animals have adapted the behavior of running away and hiding when they see humans approaching them because of the long time ago cruelty they were shown by mankind. Until this day there some people who mistreat animals and have bad motives towards them because they do not consider their feelings that they too can feel pain and mistreatment which isn’t good for their health and psychology.

Furthermore some people tend to show more care to animals that give them income. For example owners of dairy farms tend to care more for their cows by ensuring they eat well and are well looked after to avoid them from falling sick and dying because they give out produce such as milk which is of high demand in the markets and all around the world although some owners just love cows and care for them not because of the money involved.

Nowadays people have opened their eyes and most of them have a positive view towards  animals and they have realized that animals are being exploited because they cannot speak out and express their feelings therefore people have formed foundations to speak on the animals behalf by fighting for their rights which has been of much help to many species.

Many people have lots of different pets for example dogs, cats, hamsters, parrots and many more. They care for their pets and provide them with food and shelter. Also when animals fall sick they have a veterinarian who treats them and ensures that they are perfectly well and healthy. Moreover people these days give their pets a balanced diet and exercises such as taking them for a walks. This is a new animal revolution which favors animals and their welfare.

People are fighting for animal rights and most of the bad things animals went through such as being taken by force from their habitats and taken to labs and used as specimens for experiments such as cosmetics and many more have been banned and most of the Western countries have set animals laws to govern animals welfare and whoever who goes against animal rights and are found guilty will be punished by the law and can face imprisonment.

In addition due to global warming, over fishing and deforestation some animal species might become extinct. This has drawn people’s concerns and they now realized how animals are important to planet earth. Therefore most countries have come up with laws which are implemented in most places in order to avoid extinction of animals and so that the world can be a better place for animals too. Animal rights have made a positive impact on the world and this has enabled some of the animal’s species to increase in number because they feel safe.

DOMESTIC AND WILD ANIMALS

Animals are part of the world, therefore they have the right to live and adapt to their habitats. They are to live according to their natures and there not supposed to be exploited.

Some people keep domestic animals such as donkeys and oxen in order for them to get assistance. Donkeys and oxen are mostly used by many people to move objects to different locations. Moreover oxen are also used as a mode of transport. But some people end up exploiting animals which isn’t right because animals have the right to a limitation of working hours and they also get tired and have the right to have a break.

The camel is an animal used as a source of income to some people in different parts of the world such as Africa and Asia. Camels are used to take people around and the owners are paid for this service. Some tribes refer to camels as a source of transportation; they are used with people to move things as they migrate to other locations. And they are of great help to people but they are mostly over worked and treated as "working machines". 

However domestic animals such as dogs and cats are kept as pets. Most of us love them and they are dear to us. We love the thought of taking them for walks and playing catch with them. Dogs are one of the friendliest animals man loves to live with and care for.  They fill a lonely gap in a family, they are our friends and protect us, and we feel safer when we have a dog by our side or at home. 

Most people believe that a dog is a sign of protection, and they are always loyal to mankind if they are not abused or treated cruelly. Furthermore dogs decorate our environment and homes with their beauty; they are active and energetic. Most scientists and people believe that animals have their own body language in order to communicate with each other and protect each other.

They mostly live in groups of similar species and have the same characteristics. Wild animals such as Elephant, zebras, buffalo's, rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs and many more make our environment beautiful. They are unique species with extraordinary abilities. Such as the cheetah which is the fastest animal. Moreover wild animals are being hunted down and killed. People have discovered that rhino and buffalo horns are worth a lot of money therefore they are killed and their horns are taken to be sold. For example in Africa, countries such as South Africa have had poachers. This is illegal. 

It is therefore that animals are supposed to be respected and cared for. This days there foundations that look after animals ,care for them  and fight for their rights in order to avoid extinction of animals due to an increase in poaching and exploitation of animals.

We should all give animals the right to live and enjoy their surroundings because a world without animals is a dark world. Let us protect animals and fight against exploitation of animals and poaching.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO

 African is a continent filled with wonders. It has a natural beauty. Most countries are filled with minerals, wildlife, national parks, resorts, beaches, mountains and museums.

Tanzania is one of the most exotic, remarkable and a beautiful country in Africa. It’s a tourist hot spot. Most tourists go to Tanzania to visit the national parks and museums in order to see distinctive things and animals that are not found in their mother countries. And also to learn more about Tanzanian cultures that are dominant in Africa or are still practiced from ancient times till recently.

Mount Kilimanjaro is a tourist attraction; it’s a source of income to the government. A large number of tourists climb the mountain; which is the fourth highest mountain in the world and the highest mountain in Africa .It is 19,341 ft above sea level or 5895m. It is one of the world’s highest points.

Most people who reach UHURU peak feel like they are floating on top of the world, as if they can touch the sky which seems nearer to them while they’re there; it’s at their reach.

It’s an environmental friendly place to go to; it’s breathtaking. Most people who climb Mount Kilimanjaro come back fascinated and they feel like they were close to heaven.

Tanzanians are one of the friendliest people worldwide and they give assistance whenever necessary or when they are called upon to. You can never get lost if you ask.

A tour guide is assigned to each and every group that’s hiking. He/she gives people full assistance and shows them the path that is safer and easier to use because it’s a long way to UHURU peak. Also the tour guide shows them some beautiful spots on your way like where you can see the sunsets close to you, it’s so romantic. Most couples have a moment there; it’s memorable. 

People are advised to carry their walking boots which are not heavy or high in order to make walking easier and faster, warm clothes, jackets are essential because it gets colder the more you move up or from the ground. Moreover hikers are told what to carry in order not to have any troubles on their way to UHURU peak.

Furthermore climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a great achievement because not many people have had the privilege to climb it and if they have not everyone can make it up to UHURU peak which is the highest, others end at GILMAN'S point  5681m which is before UHURUpeak.Therefore it makes you feel like you’re on top of the world.  Majority hikers post flags with their signatures as a sign that they were ones there and they reached the highest point. Majority take lots of photos in order to take them back home as prove that they made it and it’s a sign of accomplishment and it’s memorable.

Along the way one may see creatures and plant species they have never laid their eyes on before. Most people gain more knowledge about the plants, animals and the water bodies they may come across. Therefore knowledge is gained.

In addition a hiker gets back with a new view, idea and understanding of different concepts related to history, Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro. Most scientists who have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro came back with a new discovery. And one earns status for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; many people envy you for making it there.
